2020 Board Nominations, Elections, and Annual Meeting
The Nomination-Election Committee, which is appointed each year by the Board of Directors, has nominated the following incumbents for two 3-year Board positions:
Michael is a Professor at DeVry University and Keller Graduate School where he teaches in the areas of Public Administration and Non-Profit Management. Dr. Magro’s areas of specialty are business, non-profit management, information technology and public policy. He has been teaching at DeVry University since 2001, and has over 12 years of experience in developing curriculum and teaching a variety of graduate and undergraduate level courses.
Before teaching in a full time capacity, Dr. Magro had an extensive history in the credit union industry. His last two management position in this industry, he served as Chief Information Officer for the USC Credit Union for three years and the LA Financial Credit Union as the CIO for four years. He worked for 18 years total years for financial cooperatives, starting his career at Xerox Federal Credit Union in 1988.
Dr. Magro hold’s a B.S. from Loyola Marymount University, a Master of Technology Management from American University and a Doctorate in Policy Planning and Development from the University of Southern California. He completed his dissertation for his Doctorate on the correlation between credit union management decisions and legislation.
Tom has served on several committees at LA Financial Credit Union, including the Loan Committee in 1977-1978. Afterward, he was elected to the Board of Directors. Since then, Tom has held several positions on the Board of Directors, including: Chairman, Vice-Chairperson and Secretary, a position he currently holds. Tom has also been a member of the Asset Liability Committee for several years.
Voting Procedures & Deadlines
Any member in good standing may nominate another member in good standing for a Board position. The necessary petition and certification forms can be obtained from the Secretary of the Credit Union. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to secure a form.
The certification form must be signed by the nominee, indicating willingness to serve if elected. A brief statement of the petitioner’s qualifications and biographical information must accompany the certification form.
The petition must be signed by no less than 1% of the membership (288 members in good standing). Nominating petitions, certification forms, qualifications and biographical data must be returned to the Secretary of the Credit Union no later than 4:00 pm on December 27, 2019.
Date & Time of Annual Meeting
The election will not be conducted by ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor when there is only one nominee for each position to be filled. If only one member is nominated for each position to be filled, the Chairman will declare each nominee elected by acclamation at the Annual Meeting, which will be held at the Pasadena Administrative Offices of the Credit Union, 177 E. Colorado Blvd., on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at 5:00 pm. All members are welcome to attend.
